I finally went outside. It was 3pm and hadn't eaten. I went toward food, but then I just kept walking. And walking. I wanted to get this light before it went out for the day. And so soon.
Almost everything was shuttered up. No restaurants. Some shops. But I found an old coffee shop. I got omurice. Didn't have enough for also coffee.
I left and saw it was 4pm. Sun sets soon. Instead of heading home I walked toward the glow in the west.
I'd wished I could reach a roof or mountain to see above the buildings. But I kept walking. Then there was a view.
A staircase led to the top of a wall beside a dock. It wasn't fenced off. I went up there and saw most of the sky. A flock of ducks flew away from the sun. A canal with boats quiet. Nobody.
I couldn't see the sun. But there was enough space in between buildings for me to see the glow behind the clouds. It was there.
This would be my sunset.
The gold trim of the clouds and tinge of the sky silenced my mind. I was at peace. All we have is now.
I felt as if it were given to me from God. This moment. Of beauty on earth.
I walked and was blessed. Couldn't have been planned or timed so perfect.
This gift comes from following something I can't yet describe. But I'm rewarded every time I do heed its call.
Before I turned to leave I thought how this was the last sunset. But it's not.
There'll be one tomorrow.
To the blog.
To the main page.
Enjoy!
